Brendan completed his legal education at the University of Alberta where he was granted a Juris Doctor. He demonstrated a keen interest in criminal law throughout his studies.
Before graduating, Brendan had already successfully defended individuals charged with criminal offences in the Provincial Court of Alberta. He also supervised a team of volunteers at Student Legal Services, a clinic for low income individuals facing criminal charges.
Brendan went on to complete his articles of clerkship at a prominent criminal defence firm in Toronto. While articling, he assisted senior counsel with a variety of serious matters, including sexual assault, firearms offences and homicide.
After his call to the bar, Brendan continued to defend individuals facing serious charges. He has secured acquittals for clients charged with offences such as sexual assault, robbery, possession of firearms, drug offences and human trafficking.
Brendan prides himself with ensuring his clients have a strong voice in the criminal justice system. He also places a strong emphasis on communicating with his clients, and making himself available to answer whatever questions they may have about the proceedings.
